New Structure of AREC

AREC was established in 1345 in order to totally manage institutions and joint stock electricity companies located in various cities of Azarbaijan. This company at present is working in a geographical area which is confined to 3 provinces named East & West Azarbaijan and Ardabil in an area about 110 thousands and 764 km square and its population is more than 8 million people which is considered the most populated among 16 regional electricity companies in Iran after Tehran and from the outlook of subscribers including 3.10% of total subscribers is second big company in Iran as well.

AREC from geographical point of view is located in an excellent place among the other regional electricity companies of Iran due to being neighbor with countries named Azarbaijan Republic , Armenia , Iraq , Turkey and Nakhjivan Republic ( Azarbaijan ) and also due to being connecting bridge between Iran's electricity industry network and Europe in a way that this company as the first regional electricity company in Iran since ۱۹۹ has sold electric power in an extraterritorial form to countries like Turkey , Azarbaijan and Armenia based on the policy of Islamic Republic of Iran.

In distinct of this company first electricity distribution companies in East & West Azarbaijan started working as subsidiary companies of Azarbaijan Regional Electricity Company and then in 1372/01/01 Ardabil Electricity Distribution and in 1375/01/22 Tabriz Electricity Distribution (including Tabriz, Azarshahr, and Osku) separated from Azarbaijan Electricity Distribution Company and started their own activity.
Along with policies of Ministry of Energy based on independency of Distribution Companies from Regional Electricity Companies, Azarbaijan Electricity Distribution Company was approved to be directly under Tavanir Company.

These companies based on subscribers need and current legislations provide lighting of pathways and other related services to suppliants and Electricity subscribers through delivery of electric branches.
Along with distribution companies now two companies named East Azarbaijan Generation Management Companies (including managing power plants installed in East Azarbaijan & Ardabil) and West Azarbaijan Generation Management Companies (including managing power plants installed in West Azarbaijan are doing their activities with coordination and under the monitoring of AREC.

In this saying we try to have an elaborative look on part of performance of ۹th and ۱۰th governments from Mordad ۸۴ until now with a glance at Azarbaijan electricity industry from ۱۳۵۷ until ۱۳۸۴, we observed great progress in Azarbaijan electricity industry on that period of time, with the separation of regional electricity companies, East Azarbaijan and Tabriz Electricity Distribution and East Azarbaijan Electricity Generation Management.
